Final Destination

Plot

One day, Alex Browning (Devon Sawa) boarded an airplane to Paris on a school trip. Thereafter, the airplane broke down and exploded, but it was his dream. He got up and said “This airplane will explode!” Because he acted violently, the 6 people got off the airplane with him. They didn’t believe him, but the airplane broke down and exploded. They survived, but a few days after, one the survivors died in an accident. Thereafter, fear of death attacks them.

Good points

I think this story is exciting and a little scary. This move is easy to understand. The death scenes are very carefully made and very novel. I wasn’t tired from this move, because the story is speedy. If you don’t like horror movies, you can watch this movie, because this movie isn’t so scary.

Bad points

This move has many shocking scenes and death scenes. If you don’t like them, I don’t recommend watching this movie. This movie is a very dark story. This is horror movie, but it isn’t so scary.

District 9

This movie came out in 2009. It was directed by Neill Blomkamp. The starring actor is Sharlto Copley. This movie’s genre is science fiction. This story is affected by the policy of apartheid in South Africa. This movie’s Japanese title is (第9地区).

Plot

In 1982, aliens came to Africa. They began to live as refugees in district 9, because their spaceship was breaking. But, the people disliked them and people strongly discriminated against them. People began to call them “prawns”. 28 years later, the people made a plan to let them emigrate. Vikas (Sharlto Copley) negotiated to aliens for the plan. But then he was injected with a mystery liquid. Thereafter, accidents happened to his body one after another and he was chased by people.

Good point

This story is very interesting, exiting and easy to understand. This movie’s idea is very interesting. For example, aliens like  cat food, people call aliens “prawn”, aliens can speak English, and so on. This movie makes us think about racial discrimination.

Bad point

This movie has some shocking scenes. I don’t recommend it for children or when you are eating a meal. This movie’s title is very sober, and the aliens design is bad.

I enjoyed and liked this movie very much, but ｗhen you are eating a meal, I don’t recommend watching this movie.

IT

This movie came out in 1990. It was directed by Tommy Lee Wallace. The starring actor is Richard Earl Thomas. This movie’s genre is horror. The origin of this movie was a novel “IT” by Stephen King in 1986. “Pennywise” is based on “John Gacy”. He was a serial killer in America.

Plot

In 1990, serial murders happened that aimed at children. A man finds an old picture by accident in the locality of a murder, and he thinks back to old events. He calls his old friends and he says that came “IT” back. ”IT” is a clown that goes by the name is “Pennywise”. They think back that they were each attacked by “Pennywise”, they cooperated and repulsed “Pennywise”, and they made a certain promise. They decided to gather again to fulfil a promise when “Pennywise” attacks them again.

Impression

Good points

“Pennywise” design is very weird and scarey. I was exiting by the first half of a story. This story is easy, and it is not so scary. So, if you don’t like horror movies, don't worry about it.

Bad points

This movie is a long movieand it's cheap. I think the ending is not interesting. This story is not so scary, So if you like horror movies, you shouldn't get your hopes up.

JUMANJI

This movie came out in 1995. It was directed by Joe Johnston. The starring actor is Robin Williams. This movie’s genre is adventure. The origin of this move was a picture book “JUMANJI” in 1982.

Plot

In 1869, 2 boys were afraid of something and buried a wooden box in the ground. 100 years later, a boy was bullied by classmates. One day, he heard the sound of a drum and dug up a wooden box at a construction site. Thereafter, he took out it his house and opened it. A board game entered inside. He played it with his friend, but he was sucked into the board game. In 1995, 2 children catch sight of the board game and started to play the game.

Good points

This movie is very exciting to the end. Anyone from adults to children can enjoy this movie. I think this movie is recommended for anyone. The story is interesting and easy.

Bad points

This movie is little old. So the CG and direction are cheap. The game’s rules are difficult to understand. There are one or two points in this movie that need improving. The story is little childish.

Summary

I think anyone can enjoy this movie. I recommend watching it with family members.

Contagion

This movie came out in 2011 and it was directed by Steven Soderbergh. The starring actor is Matt Damon. This movie’s genre is panic movie. This movie was made in experts opinion.

Plot

Mitch (Matt Damon) called his wife. At that time, she on her way back from a business trip, but she seemed to catch a cold. Two days later, she collapsed suddenly. Mitch took her to the hospital in a hurry, but she died from a mysterious virus. Thereafter, people appear with the same symptom in all parts of the world. People all over the world were scared to the mystery virus and confused.

Good points

I think it is realistic and showed that people changed by fear. The setting of the virus is easy. I think it is interesting that the infection source becomes clear in the last. This movie’s story is easy and full of tension to the end.

Bad points

This story is gloomy and it isn’t lively from first to last. Maybe this story is not very impressive, because this story is a quiet story, so you may be, bored.

This movie is easy to understand and, but the story is boring because it is very quiet  from first to last.

Plot

Billy Peltzer (Zach Galligan) is a bank employee. His father gave him a certain creature for Christmas. It was a creature called “Mogwai”. They named the Mogwai “Gizmo” and they loved it. The Mogwai had rules that must be kept. Firstly, they must not be exposed to light, secondly, they must not take water and must not get it wet, lastly, they must not be given food at midnight, but Billy breaks the rules one after another. So “Gremlins” are born.

Good points

This movie does not use CG, but the stuffed toy’s movement is very good. I think the design of Mogwai and Gremlins is good. I thought that the scene where Gremlins rushed wildly in was interesting. You can enjoy it more when you understand the black joke of this movie. This movie is science fiction movie for adults, but it may be a horror movie for children.

Bad points

This movie may be scary for children because the design of  the Gremlins is little weird there are some slightly shocking scenes in this movie. Also, I think this movie’s story is not exciting.

Summary

I think that "Gremlins" is a good movie that makes it possible for different people to enjoy from children to adults.
